About Michelle Ryan And BWELLHIVE

Meet: Michelle!

My name is Michelle Ryan and I am a certified nutritionist and Associate of ANP. My mission is to help you to become the CEO of your own health journey.

I'm a passionate Certified Nutritionist, and Health Coach and Forest Bathing Guide that is passionate about promoting the healing and life giving benefits of REAL FOOD!

I specialise in weight loss, gut health, and owner of BWELLHIVE.

I help busy working mums and dads to become the CEO of their own health journey by identifying what they want to achieve and what they must do to get there in uncovering a healthier future and get the magic back in living a healthier life feeling amazing.

My Story...

Having worked in corporate for many years and moved over to nutrition as one of my sons was sick when he was young.

My journey and awareness began as a Nutritionist learning about food and the real benefits of how it could change the way you feel from the inside out to man a host of ailments.

As a parent and busy working mum, I was desperate to survive, find solutions to manage my lifestyle to alleviate my son’s painful condition and create healthy habits that would sustain us for the long term.

Since creating BWELLHIVE and having left the corporate world I continued to survive outside that world and overcome challenges that I’m faced with being a solo business owner and performing and staying in control under pressure.

As an Associate of Naturopathic Practitioner Ireland and UK I continuously upskilled monthly at different events as part of my nutritional training and CIPD practice and though the Network West Cork monthly and weekly events.

Reflecting on the events through the year and awareness on learnings and knowledge I took away was valuable from nearly each event from the “Goal Setting” at the start of year, and on the “Thriving Not Just Surviving Series” and not to leave out “Mindset” with Margaret Hoctor which was key to me making the right decisions when pivoting the business.

Building power within is not always about doing it on your own, its teaming up and working as part of a community within a unity bringing hope to many.

The First Thing Was To Create A Plan

By understanding complex challenges of what my clients needed, my new target audience ahead of me and building, maintaining, and making the most of the Network.

The first thing was to create a plan with my coach instilling self-discipline toolbox for minimising my stress levels.  I implemented 20 minute meditation and 30 minute exercise from 6.30am every day, which was survival for my day to flow in a positive way and to reengage my mindset and power me up to focus and keep going.  Being challenged online with technology was a barrier at the start so I turned it around to focus on how I could change to discover and learn about new technology that would support me or the coming months.  I engaged and signed up with Zoom, Canva, Zest4Health Nutrition, and Skillnet Training Courses.

Despite COVID dramatically changing the face of how my business was working having a positive mindset every morning, and being clear of my business goals, breaking them down to small achievements. Managing to make the right decisions to complex challenges was simplified when I created smaller goals and action everyday home and work life.

This was building my network and incorporate simple steps every day in my 10 x 10 x 10 rule and phone 10 people, email 10 people and connect with 10 people via social media.  For me it was sealed with the knowledge and learnings from my client’s feedback and understanding what was changing for them would be my survival.  I need to pivot the business online to support them in this new environment with the COVID restrictions.

This encouraged me to reflect on my wins and challenges over the year and build on my resilience patterns, of keeping it simple, calling someone every day, and creating a Wellness Wellbeing Wednesday under BWELLHIVE to build BWELLHIVE awareness and share with my new online tools.  As a Lead Nutritionist and acting as a company Champion for a few companies, I encouraged and promoted the WHY behind the wellness and the real food journey.

Building Power Within Is Not Always About Doing It On Your Own

During the 18months I worked with many corporates including Cork County Council, and Malwarebytes and during the COVID I worked with Coca Cola Drogheda to delivering two programmes, my 3:1 Online 3 Month Programme weekly over 6 months and to Dansk Bank in Northern Ireland.  This was a real achievement as I was implementing my 3:1 programme with my new technology skills online.  I also completed a REALISE2 programme giving me a profile of my strengths and challenges, and with a coach in developing my website during this time BWELLHIVE.ie.

Building power within is not always about doing it on your own, its teaming up and working as part of a community within a unity bringing hope to many. This is being part of an amazing network group; Network West Cork with similar like-minded woman, non-judgemental, and friendly face to share a problem.

As part of being a committee member I had a good sense of flexibility and working to deadlines in the PR section during this time and then moving to membership, ensuring reports were written up and documented.  This also ensured verbal communication with relevant documentation sending to the relevant media.

Increase My Knowledge And Awareness.

The drive to continue and survive in the last 12 to 18 months was due to my own self-discipline, motivation to achieve my end goals and building a successful profit-making business.  Having tried before even made me more determined and motivated so I applied for a LEO - Woman in Business 6 Week Course and got it.  At the end of 2019 and into 2020 it supported me with the knowledge to create a model that was upgraded to a new and more innovative automated digital platform.
As part of my upskilling and I sourced ways to cope with my high levels of stress and anxiety last year.  It’s always been part of my learning curve to better myself to increase my knowledge and awareness around stress.

When I was offed a place on a Forest Bathing Course in 2019 I jumped at the chance.  This is a practice to support and guide through nature for better wellness to reduce stress and enhance mindfulness.

I created and designed a sit spot in my garden in 2020 when Covid hit to quieten the mind and reconnect with nature as part of my destressing practice and build into my self-care programme and overall sense of worth.

Reaching And By-Passing New Boundaries.

I pulled on my previous business experience with the American Chamber and Global Shares and the Network West Cork upskilling and reaching out to companies with my new 3:1 Corporate Health & Wellness Solution.

This required a minimal amount of time to implement given the current situation with COVID delivering online through zoom.  This incorporated measure and track, monthly webinar, and monthly engagement throughout the month with recipes and articles.

Going solo and reaching and bypassing new boundaries to strengthen my business foundations and focusing on my long-term goals.

This was to continue to build awareness and encourage mindset and habit change through my new zoom monthly workshops that included theory, demonstrations, questionnaires.

My ethos in building resilience during this time was through a holistic approach of nourishing and taking care of my body.  Physically getting out and exercising daily, being in social contact with others via zoom. And mine was through the network which incorporated many of my values through education and learning, caring for others and being authentic through my Wellbeing Wednesday and Community Covid Talks to County Council and School of Music Cork.

This was building on my power simplified into my health habits for by encouraging daily selfcare and keeping me intact; physically getting up to get out walking at 7am this was always a must after 20miuntes of meditation with Depak Chopra.

This focused me in my day and my daily rituals for work and family.  As my husband was at work from early till late, it was imperative to keep to a format of a daily routine and schedules. I do the bulk of the cooking at the weekends to ensure breakfast lunch, and dinner were prepared and on the ready in slow cooker, the fridge or in freezer creating time and space for self care.  During Covid the home transformed into a school, business and playground with chaos at many intervals, and though my self care and self discipline was key to avoid the temptation of chaos.

I can highly recommend Michelle. I engaged with her services in 2019 and within a few weeks, I started to feel better. At the time, I was feeling exhausted all of the time, lacking energy and was suffering from being bloated after everything I seemed to eat. With the right guidance, advice, food supplements, recipes and our one to one sessions, Michelle helped me enormously.

After my 1st session with Michelle, I immediately cut out all dairy, gluten and sugar from my diet and while I thought I was always healthy, I was eating all the foods that really affected my energy levels, mood and bloating. A year on and I am still benefiting from my sessions with Michelle. As a busy Mum of 3, I was always the last person I thought of when it came to preparing meals at home but now I take time to plan my meals for the week and to purchase food which will suit my dietary needs.

At the start I found the change really challenging but now I enjoy preparing and making my food. Women can be slow to look after ourselves but if you can take time to stop and look at what you eat and when you eat every day, it could completely change your life and for the better. I couldn’t have gone on this journey on my own and needed Michelle to work with me through it.

It has literally been life changing. I have so much more energy, I sleep better and have lost weight and I feel much healthier overall. She is a great nutritionist giving clear explanations for her recommendations and breaking down her suggested changes into manageable and realistic tasks.

I can whole heartedly recommend Michelle as a professional with a huge amount of knowledge but also a huge amount of practicality and understanding. I now feel more empowered to be able to make the right choices in regards to my food and stay in control of my health and my new lifestyle”.

"I have been struggling with low energy and often feeling tired for years. My hormones levels have also been imbalanced as a result of a steroids treatment I received as a child. When I started working with Michelle my primary concern was to increase energy levels.

I found Michelle's approach super professional and thorough. She really made effort to find out and understand my lifestyle and habits and we worked together to make the necessary changes. Michelle offered me practical solutions that worked best for me and my family. It's a combination of small things that really made a huge difference! I really felt the encouragement and support from Michelle and she was checking with me regularly to see how I was doing. The last few months have been extremely busy for me, both personally and professionally, and the regular catch up helped me stay on track and kept me motivated.

I feel much better physically (stronger!) and more aware of what we eat as a family. I have learned to listen to my body and recognise what foods make me unwell. Michelle shared some healthy and easy! recipes with me and few became my family favourites. I have also lost 4kg for the first time since I gave birth almost 6 years ago!

Thank you Michelle for your kindness, for keeping me motivated and making the change possible!"

Michelle, Thanks for the great consultation today it was excellent. I have taken lots of notes and you have given me a lot of information on the influences food has on your body and wellbeing and especially foods to reduce for joint inflammation.

I have learned so much over the coming weeks on your program and my big take is how food, drink and exercise can be a big impact on your body, mind and overall wellbeing.   It has been an excellent education and I’m so grateful the company rolled out this excellent program at a critical time during Covid.

I will let you know how my Gluten Free Yogurt bread turns out and if it’s successful I will share the recipe with you.

Thanks again and will connect in with you in a few weeks to let you know how I’m getting on. - Regards, Mariea
